Day One of being a blogger, heres a bit about my history...

I began the lifelong journey into all things colour and design from a very young age. A passion that may have driven my parents crazy!

The image shown is me as a teenager helping my dad building our home.

I studied Interior Decorating my first year out of high school. Prior to that I was working within the soft furnishing's Department in David Jones assisting the Decorator's. In 2001 I completed a Taubmans Colour Traineeship where the finer points of mixing colour and colour theory were learned.

After a year or so within the Paint Industry I moved on to work as a Retail Designer and Merchandiser within the Everyday Living and Sleep City group. This role included designing stores, assisting with buying twice a year and setting up and establishing new stores. Once completed each store was maintained and re-designed on a regular basis to keep up with current trends.

Moving on from the Retail Industry I started within the Project Home Industry working as a Colour Consultant. I went on to manage a Colour Studio up until and including the time I became a mum. During this time I returned to further my studies in Interior Design at Enmore School of Design on a part-time basis.

Today I have over 9 years experience working as a Colour Consultant. I have completed Countless Colour Selection appointments with New Home Buyers, Knock down rebuilds and consulted with several Residential Builders including Sarpel Homes, Alkira Homes, Clarendon Homes, Wincrest Homes, Planwell Homes and majority Eden Brae Homes.

Throughout this period a hands on approach to my own renovations has expanded my knowledge of building. I have gained an understanding of how to complete renovations and project manage. Learning from the ground up about construction and design was an invaluable process and has become a passion, which fills me with joy.

Recently I updated my drafting skills by completing an ArchiCAD course and have been enjoying designing renovations and add-ons. Last year I saw one of my re-designs come to life (refer to my blog tab to view Kalimna Dr design).

Several services are available with JRG Interiors and I look forward to each new project no matter the size.

My business logo was created by a very talented artist and textile designer Shannon Heath and was an adaptation of a much loved peacock that lived on our street. shannonheathstudio.com
